About Us

The incident of infertility is increasing rapidly. Unlike earlier days, not only the upper class strata, but every strata of the society is suffering from the problem of childlessness, the reason being multi-factorial.

The treatment of infertility does not mean only test tube baby programme or laparoscopic surgery. Rather, these two are merely part of the treatment. However larger section of people are benefited by sympathetic counseling, adequate psychological support, looking into the ancillary problem and by certain simple measures, which are otherwise called general treatment of infertility.

It is very important to go deep into the problem, understand it thoroughly, handle it carefully, and plan a judicious treatment. For this purpose, availability of dedicated centres with all facilities of treatment, along with developing dedicated personnel with expertise to treat infertility is immensely important. With this idea in mind, we have set up a mission to control the problem of infertility effectively and hence, the birth of “Calcutta Fertility Mission” is taking place. This centre is aimed not only at treatment patients with cost-effective management schedule affordable to the middle class, especially to the lower middle class who are the worse sufferers of this problem, and to develop manpower, medical and ancillary to carry out the treatment protocols properly.

Research is another aspect of development of the subject. This has been taken care of in this centre. The facility of good library for knowledge updating and good laboratory back-up is available in this centre. For new-comers in this discipline, planning and developing different treatment schedules for general infertility, good set-up for Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) and fertility promoting laparoscopic surgery (FPLS), along with the skill of proper counseling are few armamentaria to combat the assault of infertility.

We hope this centre and also other centres like this will help in alleviating such a social, psychological and medical problem of infertility, at present and in future.
